My group had the dueling mandate of bison management-brucellosis disease and the mandate is, How do you manage Yellowstone bison? The concerns are keeping the wildlife in park boundaries. So, my group came to a conclusion, Inject all wild bison with the brucellosis vaccine. A few good reasons for our conclusion are, The bison may not get brucellosis, You don’t have to kill them, You have more bison to see at the park. A few bad reasons for our conclusion are, The bison may get brucellosis, The bison may get in roads, If the bison leave the park they could harm other people. Now, the brucellosis disease can cause susceptible domestic cattle to abort their first calf. Some other bad things are, Some of the bison may not leave the park so there is no reason to inject them with the brucellosis vaccine. Another good thing is, The bison may be able to have their first calf. I think that you could probably just build a fence around the park, but the bison would probably just tear it up. One other way you could stop them from getting brucellosis is, You could slaughter bison that leave park boundaries. Or, you could not prevent bison from leaving the park. But I think my group chose the best one.
